To start off I entirely bought this book based off of the cover and the back of the book ("I see it now, the contours of a plan, a perfect food or, rather, a meal perfectly executed, which will revive that long-buried instinct in Ralph, to be alive, despite the shock of it. To stay alive, despite the pain of it. A food, a flavour, offered once by his motherthing to make suddenly being alive all right. I can revive that instinct. I can replicate that flavour. I just have to grab a few things first"). The cover is amazingly illustrated with pictures resonating the events in the book. Motherthing is a deeply dark horror novel of a women literally doing anything to save her husband from his dead mother as a ghost. I personally love horror books that are insanely disturbing/ terrifying page turners. This book checks all of my ideal horror novels and had my jaw on the floor. Throughout this book I wanted the woman saving her husband, Abby to go see a therapist and questioned her thought process of justifying her actions. This book was weirdly funny and terrifying all in one.
overall I would give this book 5 stars
