The Handmaid’s Tale (review)

KatieRead

The Handmaid's tale written by Margaret Atwood is an eyeopening read that immediately caught my attention and had me hooked throughout the book. This book in my opinion is classified as a feminism dystopian novel of women's struggles under government controlled environment. I really loved this book as my first Margaret Atwood book I've read so far mainly because we don't know the main characters name and is often only revealed my "she" or "her" i also enjoyed the look backs on her life before the new "social order" and her perspectives in the present. The new social order demands several new meanings to a women's role and place in society and overall life. The government makes several controlling rules on women's lives and pushes the idea of breeding, making the sole purpose of a women to only breed and breed only. If you enjoy fem lit, womens views in books and overall futuristic dystopian novels give a handmaids tale a try! Overall I would give The Handmaid's tale a 5 star read.

Rating: 5 out of 5.
