The book is about Phoebe Walsh who is obsessed over true crime and mystery, she’s currently analyzing a dissertation for her PhD. Her time for analyzing and writing about true crime comes to a stop when her father dies leaving Phoebe to clean out their childhood home. Phoebe and her younger brother are working over the complicated feelings of the not so role model father’s death. Sam Denning is her neighbour who Phoebe thinks is a serial killer. Over complicating her neighbour being a heinous murderer or not comes to a halt when Phoebe realizing she might like Sam. Phoebe comes across many problems in her childhood town and is not one to trust people easily.
