The Only One Left (review)

KatieRead

The Only One Left is written by Riley Sager and is under the category of Thriller, Mystery, Horror, Suspense and Captivating. “At seventeen, Lenora Hope Hung her sister with a rope“. “Stabbed her father with a knife.” ‘Took her mother’s happy life“It wasn’t me,” Lenora said. “But she’s the only one not dead“. The story takes place in 1983 and is about Lenora Hope in her 70s and her recent hire Kit McDeere. Kit is Lenoras new “home-health aid” in the old Hope’s End. Lenoras series of strokes results in her becoming mute. Suddenly Lenora wants to communicate with Kit by tapping out sentences on an old typewriter. One day Lenora types “I want to tell you everything” and this was the start of the mystery. I really liked how Riley Sager captured the suspense and kits emotions and thoughts. Seeing how Kit was driven to the job and her back story really made me understand the character better. This relates to Lenora as well, I was constantly guessing is Lenora the bad guy or the real victim? Overall I would give Riley Sagers book “The Only One Left” a total of 5 stars.

Rating: 5 out of 5.
