Rouge (review)

KatieRead

Rouge by Mona Awad is under the category of Gothic, Thriller, Suspense, Adult, Fiction, and Mystery. The book starts off with a young skincare obsessed woman named Mirabelle. Mirabelle also known as “belle” has to return to her childhood home in San Diego because of the results of her mothers sudden death. During Mirabelle’s visit back home she faces her complicated relationship with her mother and faces several strange individuals. Her original task to clean out her mothers home quickly takes a turn to finding out how her mother died and her connection to the mysterious people she encounters along the way. Rouge connects the complicated mother-daughter relationships and overall is a very dark, twisted, strange to even more stranger cult based novel. During this novel I was addicted to how Mirabelle’s thinking process progressed throughout the book and wanting to unravel her childhood. I would overall give “Rouge” by Mona Awad a total of 4 stars.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

    1. Hi Cassie! Thanks for reading my review, I’m glad you enjoyed reading it. To answer your question one of my personal favourite plot twist from rouge would be when Mirabelle finds out her mother is apart of a strange skin care based cult. The cults name is rouge and they have the most shocking treatments ever! Overall Rouge is about connecting the toxicity some people have over beauty standards given by society.
